Tomas W. Fuller
Tomas Fuller, co-editor of Passages: The Mystery of Death, Finding Meaning in Life, does not see himself as an author or writer, despite the recent publication of his book. Fuller’s life passion comes from his natural curiosity, always looking beyond the obvious to find meaning in the small things that are often overlooked.
Drawing on his financial services background, his disciplined approach enabled him to compile a vast collection of verses for Passages that he had to narrow down to just the final choices for the book. Determination and drive are Fuller’s fundamental character traits as he strives for excellence in everything he embarks upon. Fuller and his nephew and co-editor, Garth Fuller, meticulously sifted through the works of the world’s greatest philosophers, poets and thinkers, to produce an easy-to-read, yet incredibly compelling, volume providing perspective on life’s inevitable final destination.
Although at first, Fuller’s collected work may give the impression of starkness on the white pages, but the passages in the book leave his readers with an immensely powerful impact and a little better understanding of life and death.
A tall imposing figure, Fuller is a compassionate, caring and sensitive man eager to help others cope with life’s most challenging and difficult times. Having loved and lost family, friends and beloved pets, Fuller hopes the passages in the book can help people see the ray of hope in the depths of their grief.
With the publication of his first hard bound book, Fuller wanted to create a meaningful and special gift that can provide comfort to people going through life transitions, suffering from prolonged illnesses, or those left behind after a loved one dies. His deep commitment to help others extends to donating a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each book to hospice and end of life care.
For more than 20 years, Fuller’s professional career has been spent as a financial professional for a national publicly traded company. Outside of work, Fuller spends quality time with his dog Simon, a Chi-mix, and his three cats. Always the adventurous type, he enjoys outdoor activities like surfing and hiking, and has traveled to nearly every continent at least once, always returning with a few more passages that can be included in the next book.
Garth Fuller
Garth Fuller, co-editor of Passages: The Mystery of Death, Finding Meaning in Life, has always admired his uncle Tomas Fuller and looked upon him as a role model. Dedicated to his studies, but deeply involved in extracurricular activities, Garth eagerly embarked on the book project with his uncle.
Bringing diverse viewpoints and vastly different life experiences to the effort, both Tomas and Garth realized that conceptualizing the project was a lot easier than actually getting it done in the midst of the hectic pace of studying, working and living.
Garth’s academic experience at Cornell University, where he majored in animal science, provided him with a unique perspective that he brought to the editing phase of Passages. A disciplined educator and elementary school science teacher, Garth considered each passage carefully, reviewing and scrutinizing each one with scientific precision.
Like his uncle, Garth envisions Passages as a comforting resource for those whose lives have been touched by death, loss or transition. He believes that the comfort provided by just one eloquently written verse and passage can make a meaningful difference in how we view the world around us. Often, deeply held feelings that have been buried for years can be elicited by solitary reading and enable us to turn our attention away from the grief and back to living life in a more enlightened way.
